Informed Consent Form for Participation in a Research Study at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich
1. Information about the Research:
You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Thomas Menzel, Caspar Schumacher, Alp Kaan Aksu, and David Rieger under the supervision of Professor Rauthmann from the Chair of Personality Psychology at the Department of Psychology, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. This study aims to enhance extraversion, specifically sociability, through a two-week email-based intervention program. Each morning, you will receive a task via email, and every evening, you will be asked to respond to a brief survey. Completing a pre-survey before the intervention and a post-survey after the intervention is mandatory for the completion of the study.
2. Risks and Discomforts:
You may experience stress or discomfort during some challenges, particularly those involving interactions with strangers. These activities aim to increase your sociability. While we strive to ensure these are positive experiences, not all interactions may be comfortable. Your feedback will be invaluable in refining our approach.
3. Benefits:
We believe that the interventions used in this study could lead to improvements in sociability and extraversion. However, while we are optimistic about the potential benefits, the effectiveness of these specific interventions remains to be scientifically validated. Participants will receive personalized feedback on their progress at the conclusion of the study, which could provide valuable insights into their personal development.
4. Confidentiality:
Your personal data will be stored on secure LMU servers. Only the research team will access your information, and any results published will be presented in a manner that ensures individual participants cannot be identified.
5. Level of Risk:
The risks associated with your participation are minimal and not greater than those encountered in everyday life.
6. Contact Information:
Should you have any questions or concerns about the study or your rights as a participant, please contact the research team via email at team@traitshift.com. This email is provided throughout the study for any queries or issues that may arise.
7. Voluntary Participation and Right to Withdraw:
Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw from the study at any time without penalty by notifying the research team via email. If you request the deletion of your data, it will be promptly removed from our records. Conversely, if you stop participating without notification, your data may still be used for exploratory purposes. Additionally, we reserve the right to remove participants from the study if necessary to maintain the integrity of the research.
Consent Statement:
By selecting "Yes" below, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this consent form. You agree to participate in the study under the conditions outlined above and understand your rights as a participant.
